I just received an email coming from UKWW and they created a special thread for the four winner of SEOContest2008, wohoo. I’m happy to see my name as SEOContest Third Prize Winner , this will be the start of my new career as SEO… Hahaha

SEOContest2008 competitors are very tough, specially the owner of those site on the top 4 position. I’m hoping to get at least the 4th position and if I can break top 4 spot this is a sign that my site has a chance of winning (Inuman nahhhh!!!).

Today I just amazed at the traffic I’m receiving from Google in one of my site. The site has been established last September 2007 and I never received a traffic as high as today. From previous month I’m only receiving less 50 unique and all of my target keyword are ranking  #300 plus . I’m working on the backlink of the site since last year but I never see any progress for5 months and what I notice the more link building I make, the more Google hated me until it reaches rank #400. I stop working on the site for 2 months until today.

Today I received the Google Love,  I’m currently receiving 100+ unique and my main target keyword is now rank #5. My secondary keyword are on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pages of Google.

This site seocontest2008.org is ranking on the first page of the keyword for almost two weeks and after that,it suddenly disappeared. I hope Google Love will visit my site before the contest end.

My site is nowhere to be found in the top 1000 of google for the keyword seocontest2008 , this happen after an attack on my site by the name noobgeek . That cracker deleted my post and created a new post containing “hacked by noobgeek”, luckily I have a backup on my host.  Try site:seocontest2008.org and you’ll  see the cache page of my site.

Are keyword rich domain given more weight by Google ? We have seen several keyword rich domains who were finalist in every SEO Contest. We’ve seen a lot site who’s ranking high for it’s own keyword domain and given a priority to become authority sites.

Authority sites are basically a status that is awarded to a website, so that it occupies the topmost position in any search engine result.

Speaking thru my past experience and the current contest, Google really giving more weight to keyword rich domain as we currently notice that my entry to seocontest2008 is indexed on the 2nd day of the competition and rank in the top 10 spot on the same day.

Though owning the domain name doesn’t guarantee that google will list you first or guarantee of top rank, you need to work and learn different aspect of SEO / SEM .

Over the past three days with minimal link building, SEOContest2008.org still standing strong from the first page of Google SERPS since the first day of the contest. Uber-amazing!

I checked several times today and Google showed 3,040 competitor, just imagine from day 1 with 10 result and now with thousands of competitor. It’s simply show that this contest is not an easy one.

As you might be previously informed on the 1th of February the UK Webmaster World Community will launch an international seo contest and the winner will receive $1000 and each 3 runners up will get $100.

Today is the day! Right now the targeted search term has been released and UK Webmaster Forum Seo Contest is now official.

What is the targetted keyphrase ? Though it’s not obvious on my domain name and my blog title, the keyword is seocontest2008 .

How can I enter ?

In order to help us identify you as a participant during the contest you need to do two things:

  We are going to design a result table page for the contest and the value of the user tag will be displayed next to your result so this will identify you during the contest.

Rules

• You may use a domain, folder, or sub domain as your optimised page with one criterion. The page must be brand new, no backlins no cached version
• Every optimisation techniques are allowed except cloaking, and hiding text. We will periodically compare the optimised pages with their cached version in order to discover the cloackers, hence we kindly ask you to avoid using any kind of noarchive meta tag

How will we determine the winner?
We won’t, but the Google.com. On the 1st of April at 1pm (UK time) the result table will be updated last time requesting the http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&q=tagetted-keyphrase&btnG=Search string and the 1st result will be the winner of the contest.

Notes:

• In order to provide the same chance for everybody, the result table will ignore the differnces might be caused by the different geographic locations hence the above specified searching string will be requested every time when the reult page will be updated
• Prices will be received via PayPal transfer.
